Profile
Tian is passionate about litigation and is honoured to join Direction Legal LLP as an associate, having previously articled at Direction Legal LLP. Raised in Vancouver, Tian is a first generation Canadian who immigrated from Wuhan, China at the age of eight.
After attending Kitsilano Secondary School, Tian called Toronto home for many years. Thereafter, Tian spent several years living with his Grandparents in Wuhan; where he became fluent in Mandarin.
After his stay in China, Tian moved back to the west coast to finish his education. In 2019, Tian went to Victoria where he completed his law degree. Tian has since settled down in the Lower Mainland and agrees that the Westcoast is definitely the best coast.
At the University of Victoria, Tian spent a term working at the school’s Law Centre, which provides advice, assistance and legal representation to clients who cannot afford a lawyer. Tian was responsible for files in criminal law, family law, residential tenancy law, and human rights law, among others. It was during this time that Tian developed a passion for litigation as the experience showed him the positive impact legal work can have on clients.
Tian understands that a good lawyer provides strong advocacy coupled with true compassion. When working on his files, Tian aims to get a true and fulsome understanding of each client’s issues to come up with concrete and creative solutions.
